Our Story

The furniture trade runs deep in our family it’s more than just a business; it’s part of who we are.

My grandfather, Jack Admans, was a skilled wood machinist who dedicated over 50 years to his craft. His precision, pride in workmanship, and deep knowledge of timber laid the foundation for the values we still hold dear.

My father, John Admans, was an upholstery foreman with a real gift for bringing furniture to life. He produced prototypes for the companies he worked with and taught me the importance of doing a job properly never rushing, never cutting corners.

In 1978, I began my own journey with a four year apprenticeship at Greengate of High Wycombe as an upholsterer, under the watchful eye of my mentor and hero, Dick Scutchins. Those early years gave me a deep respect for the trade, a love of craftsmanship, and the ambition to one day build something of my own.

In 1984, with the support of my father and my school friend Nick Spicer, I founded Topline Furniture. We started as a small workshop with big ambitions, focused on high quality, handmade upholstery. Over time, we grew into a close knit team of six, including my brother, David, all sharing the same commitment to craftsmanship and customer care.

Today, Topline Furniture continues to build on that legacy creating bespoke upholstered headboards, pelmets, ottomans, and stools for both trade and retail customers. Whether you’re after something traditional or modern, off the shelf or completely unique, our goal remains the same: to make furniture that’s built to last and made with pride.

so apparently this should be a slick tacky sales message

what’s the point, our customers know we are good, we know we are good, we know we pay attention to detail, we must be doing something right after 42yrs, but you won’t know until you see our work first hand
